South Africa: Zuma Survives NEC Meeting, But Cabinet Divisions Deepen

President Jacob Zuma survived moves by some senior ANC members to force him to resign at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting from 26-28 November. The move has weakened Zuma’s position, however, and further exposed cabinet divisions that are increasingly evident in energy policy issues, such as the debate surrounding the recently released update to the Integrated Resource Plan for Electricity (IRP).
