Russia: Vankor Production Decline: A Political Headache for Sechin

On 8 June Rosneft First Vice President Eric Liron reported that oil output at Vankorneft, the company’s second-biggest production subsidiary, located in the northwest of the Krasnoyarsk region, will decline from 22mn to 21mn tons (from 442,000 to 422,000 bpd). The immediate decline in output in the first quarter was attributed to a rupture in a local pipeline in March, but in the longer term Rosneft will be unable to return to the output plateau at Vankor that it sustained for the last three years.
