The Gambia Under Adama Barrow: Political Outlook and Prospects for Investors

The 22-year reign of dictatorial and capricious President Yahya Jammeh finally came to an end on 21 January 2017. His hand was forced by the intervention of a West African military force mandated to enact the will of the Gambian people, as expressed in the December 2016 presidential election.
 
This new study analyzes key aspects of The Gambia’s governance and investment environment under Jammeh’s successor, President Adama Barrow. It assesses the role and influence of key government institutions for foreign investors and analyzes ways to navigate the country’s chaotic political, economic and security environment.
