Mozambique: Privatization Drive: Potential Debt Revelations

On 1 June the Mozambican government announced its decision to privatize the Nacala airport to reduce inefficiencies and increase the airport’s attractiveness to international airline operators. The move is the beginning of a major privatization drive that is set to last for months, if not years. The Institute for the Management of State Holdings (IGEPE) has over 100 companies in its portfolio, and in June 2015 its head, Apolinario Panguene (see our Personality of the Week) stated that over half of these companies could be privatized.
