Mozambique: A New Round of Price Increases: Addressing Fuel Supply in the Short Term

According to a statement from the Ministry for Mineral Resources and Energy, effective as of 22 March fuel prices will increase throughout Mozambique. Gasoline and diesel prices will rise by 12% and 13%, respectively. This latest price hike comes in the wake of fuel importers’ complaints to the prime minister that prices were too low to be profitable. It is also the second in six months, with the previous increase taking effect on 1 October 2016. (At that time, prices for gasoline and diesel rose by 6% and 24%, respectively.)
