Mozambique: CTA-Central Bank Tensions: Banking Sector Fears

On 21 November CTA President Rogerio Manuel (please see our Personality of the Week) accused Bank of Mozambique governor Rogerio Zandamela of acting in bad faith. According to Manuel, rather than liquidating Nosso Banco, the central bank should have placed the financial institute under administration in the same way it did MozaBanco. His comments came ahead of a terse meeting between the CTA and the central bank, where the health of the Mozambican financial sector was discussed.
