Mozambique: Armed Convoys Suspended: Background and Benefits for Road Transport

After the extension of the cease-fire between Renamo and government forces until 4 March, armed convoys on major roads have now been suspended, signaling that trust between the two sides is being built. Convoys were in place on three main stretches of roads in the country, including on the national highway 1 between the town of Muxungue and the Save River in Sofala province, as well as between the towns of Nhamapadza and Caia in Sofala, and on the national highway 7 between Vanduzi in Manica province and Changara in Tete province.
