Mexico: Round One Results: Looking Beyond Initial Disappointment

On 15 July the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) announced the official bidding results for the first batch of Round One contracts in a live broadcast. The results of the bid round were less than encouraging: ultimately, only two of the 14 shallow-water blocks were awarded. The two blocks were both awarded to a consortium composed of Sierra Oil and Gas (Mexico), Premier Oil (UK) and Talos Energy (US), which won 20-year exploration and production rights.
