Mexico: Pemex Announces Trion Field Partnership Plans

On 10 June the Pemex board approved the first block to be explored and exploited by Pemex in tandem with a private partner: Trion, a deepwater field located 200km off the coast of Tamaulipas in an area known as “Cinturon Plegado Perdido.” Trion is 2,500m deep, and according to the latest data published by the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) in January 2016, contains at least 480mn barrels of oil equivalent, mainly made up of light crude. Developing Trion will require a minimum investment of $11bn.
