Mexico: Collective Bargaining at Pemex: Prospects for the Sector and IOCs

On 13 November Pemex and STPRM signed a long-awaited new collective bargaining agreement. Since August of last year, Pemex and the STPRM had been conducting negotiations to strike a new deal, but they had proved fruitless; as late as June, an agreement appeared unfeasible. Notably, the new agreement will not affect older generations of Pemex workers, as benefits and retirement conditions for that have been with the company for at least 15 years will remain the same.
