Libya: The Jadhran-NOC Feud: Implications for the Unity Government

The hostility between PFG commander Ibrahim Jadhran and the Tripoli headquarters of the NOC is well-known and even dates back to before Jadhran’s forces began an almost year-long blockade of eastern oil terminals in 2013-2014, which cost Libya’s oil sector and state coffers dearly. NOC officials have long grumbled about the overall unruliness of the PFG, and a reform of the ostensibly national force has been mulled several times since 2011.
