Libya: Al-Hassi Dismissed as Head of Tripoli Government

After months of mounting frustration with Omar al-Hassi as head of the self-declared government in Tripoli, the rump GNC voted to dismiss him this week. GNC contacts had told Horizon over the weekend that the move would happen within days. According to our contacts, there were various reasons for his sacking: some noted that the GNC was generally displeased with his perceived incompetence, but particularly with his recent comments on the country’s finances and his demands to receive funding from the Central Bank of Libya (CBL).
