Kazakhstan: The Turkic Council: Astana’s Role in the Caspian Region

On 31 October Kazakhstan, along with the other members of the CCTS, received a note from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs announcing that the council’s 6th annual summit has been postponed. This is significant on two fronts for Kazakhstan, both in terms of its changing role in the CCTS and amid constitutional changes in neighboring Kyrgyzstan and the broader Caspian region.
