Kazakhstan: Renewed Caspian Offshore Cooperation: LUKoil’s Leadership Prospects

After years of delays, in mid-July the Russian government gave all necessary approvals for a joint venture between KazMunayGas (KMG), LUKoil and Gazprom to develop the Tsentralnoye field in the Caspian Sea, where the companies own 50%, 25% and 25% stakes, respectively. Horizon recently spoke with two high-level contacts in the Ministries of Energy and Natural Resources and Environment and LUKoil about this and learned that Russia has big plans for this project.
