Kazakhstan: Nazarbayev Calls for State Governance Reforms and Approves Chinese Economic Initiatives

In a speech to the heads of the CIS governments at an economic forum in Astana at the end of May, President Nursultan Nazarbayev delineated his vision on state governance reforms, a topic that has become his favorite after his recent re-election. Nazarbayev noted that “difficult times require difficult reforms,” implying that there will be sweeping institutional changes.
