Kazakhstan Expands Foreign Partnerships While Balancing Russia

Kazakh and Russian media have recently focused on the mounting trade dispute between the two countries, as Russian imports, made cheaper by the drastic devaluation of the ruble, have threatened sales of domestic products in Kazakhstan. Notably, this development has led to Astana and Moscow exchanging blows, with Kazakh Deputy Energy Minister Magzum Mirzagaliyev announcing 45-day embargo on Russian oil products in early March, ostensibly in response to the surplus of Russian products in the country.
