Indonesia: Mounting TPPI Case Raises Suspicions of the National Police’s Intent

Over the past month there has been considerable coverage in Indonesian media of TPPI and the manner in which it bought condensate from the government, refined it into gasoline and then sold that gasoline, with attention focused on the company’s alleged responsibility for a shortfall of $140mn in payments for government-share condensate. Despite this flurry of coverage, the media has poorly reported on the building case, with most accounts filled with factual errors and contradictions. Horizon has focused on the case to analyze its background and origins as well as its implications for the Indonesian oil and gas sector.
