Indonesia: Mangkusubroto Discusses Prospects for Reform in 2016

On 3 January, just days before being quietly appointed president commissioner of the State Electricity Company (PLN), Kuntoro Mangkusubroto gave a candid interview to Indonesian magazine Tempo in which he delineated his views of the energy and extractives sectors and their governance. Mangkusubroto emphasized that functionally and structurally, the current cabinet is moving “further away from the ideal, especially with a fourth coordinating minister, because there has never been an energy minister reporting to the maritime coordinating minister instead of to the economic coordinating minister.”
